Welcome to One Big Family Oregon.

Our platform is designed to bring people and families into unity of effort and solidarity, with a special focus on African communities and those with African origins, as well as the wider African diaspora. Let’s work together in order to get better together.

vision

We, as One Big Family Oregon define ourselves through the vision that aim to bridge the gap between the Africans themselves, between Africans and the Afro-descendants from the diaspora. We are a people and family-friendly group focused on unity among us and providing our community with what was not available to our populations due to a long history of oppression, racism and colonialism, centuries of lack of access to basic fairness, equal material wealth, health and justice.

As a result, we feel that it is our mission today to explore and find resources available in private and public hands to close the disparities that are still persisting in the social and economic environment we have been struggling in..

Our Vision.

Our guiding principle is "UBUNTU":

Seven years ago, we embarked on a visionary journey with the goal of creating a positive impact within our community. Our purpose has always been to empower and transform the lives of our people, fostering progress and growth. We asked ourselves, "What can we do to uplift our fellow from the Pan-African community in Oregon? How can we enhance our quality of life, both professionally and socioeconomically?"

Our deep concern for the well-being of our community has been the driving force behind our mission. We envision a community where our people live in dignified housing, our children receive education in environments that nurture success and personal growth, and adults thrive in their business endeavors. We aspire to create a community where healthcare is accessible and exceptional, neighborhoods are safe, and no one goes hungry while abundance surrounds us.

Addressing healthcare and wellness challenges in our community is a top priority. Recognizing that physical health and mental well-being are critical components of human capital, we are committed to qualitative improvements that reach a wider segment of our community.

One aspect we've been working diligently on is raising cultural visibility in the broader community. We aim to rectify the lack of recognition of our cultural values and heritage by sharing our unique history through annual cultural events.
