HISTORY OF OUR GROUP
About us!
One Big Family Oregon is a cultural and immersive platform intended for the communities of Africans from Africa, black people of African ancestry from the Americas, the Caribbean islands and all the others parts of the world to join in sharing of our common heritage and history, as well as bringing together the
Wealth of diversity that we created and experimented while apart in the diaspora, from other continents we were taken to.
We act as a Pan-African umbrella with the focus to foster a broader unity among us as a minority community in Oregon. We greatly emphasized, as a priority in our vision, to include and reach out to other communities of color to feel welcome in our activities and celebrate with us and take part in our cultural contribution. It is very important to leave our doors open to allow others to get to know us better, as well as us to know them and understand that we are all fully, the members of the patchwork of the same Oregon social fabric.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to reinforce more solidarity and mutual help within those different communities, in terms of managing resources allocated to minorities in Oregon. Directing help to those in need, providing administrative and legal support, youth counseling, family programs, and promoting fitness activities for kids, field trips and more. One of Our concerns about youth in Our community is to see them thrive, be active and healthy. For that we plan to organize and develop team sports and get them involved in various competitions in those different sportive disciplines. Workshops in different manual skills will be put in place to encourage kids to engage themselves more, in professions that will guarantee them stable livelihood.
